Career Services Program
The Career Services Program is available to working parents to help them stay employed and advance in their careers. This program is designed for parents working a minimum of 30 hours per week to help them stay employed and advance their careers.
Career Services Program can provide:
- Tools for keeping a job.
- Assistance in finding a better job.
- Additional income to increase self-sufficiency.
The Career Services Program is available statewide through the WorkSource Centers and Affiliate offices. Services are available during alternate hours and employment specialist will work around hours of employment. What kinds of job retention and advancement services are available?
Eligible parents enrolled in the Career Services Program will receive $50 per month for up to six months. Additional "bonus" payments are will be given to those parents who participate in employment support activities offered by the Employment Security Department. Available career activities include:
- Job retention and wage progression coaching
- Individualized employment plan development
- Information on job skill training opportunities
- Information on community resources
- Tools for keeping jobs
Who is eligible?
Parents working 30 or more hours per week may enroll in the Career Services Program up to two months following the month they leave WorkFirst cash assistance, are approved for DCA or in any month following approval for basic food assistance if they haven’t received CSP during the current program year. Each working parent in the household may qualify for their own cash assistance payments and services. To qualify parents need to be working 30 or more hours per week and:
- have exited WorkFirst cash assistance or
- be eligible for Diversion Cash Assistance or
- be receiving basic food assistance
