By claiming the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), you could receive up to $4,800 cash back. Even if you earned less than $15,000 you may get money back, but only if you file. Even individuals who worked very part-time and think they don’t need to file may be eligible for money from the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC).

The IRS claims that over 60,000 individuals in Washington State alone don't file for the EITC each year, missing out in over $80 million in cash that could be returned to them. The EITC brought more than $600 million to over 350,000 Washington state working individuals and families in recent years. This is a significant amount of money for lower income households, our savings accounts and our economy.

Who qualifies for the EITC?

No Children: Income less than $13,440 ($18,440 married filing jointly)

  • maximum refund is up to $457

One Child: Income less than $35,463 ($40,463 maried filing jointly)

  • maximum refund is $3,043

Two Children: Income less than $40,295 ($45,295 married filing jointly)
