Resources for Staff, Partners & Contractors

Photo of childrenThe WorkFirst program continues to be a success because of the services staff, partners and contractors provide to help families connect with the resources and supports they need to go to work. WorkFirst is a program that prepares parents to go to work, so they can take better care of their children.

Parents who can work will work - parents who can not work will be supported – and parents who choose not to work will be held accountable.

Keeping Parents Engaged Greatly Increases Their Chances of Success!

Engaging WorkFirst parents is about building a positive relationship between parents and the services and activities they are participating in. When parents are engaged in what they are doing, they are more motivated to succeed. Finding ways to directly involve parents in helping make decisions about their futures will increase their participation and get the "buy-in" necessary to achieve their employment goals.

When to Engage WorkFirst Parents?

  • During TANF application and/or during the WorkFirst Orientation
  • During the Comprehensive Evaluation (CE)
  • Between activities with phone calls
  • Once they go to work 30 or more hours per week by enrolling them in the Career Services Program
